DEXTER, Mich. (10/25/2013) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team had one more run left in its regular season and the Titans took advantage of that with a number of personal records at the EMU Classic on Friday evening.

The non-scored 5k meet featured over 60 runners, including harriers from host Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green and Toledo, on the course at Hudson Mills Metro Park.

For the second week in a row, junior Ryan Hofsess was the top runner as he took sixth in a career time of 15:21, 51 seconds ahead of his previous low at the season-opening Golden Grizzly Open.

It was also a PR day for senior Martin Nelkie as he ran a 15:39 for 17th, 13 seconds faster than his effort at Oakland earlier in the year.

Junior George Holman posted a career-best 15:43 to earn 22nd, while sophomore Austin Wigent tallied a personal record 15:53 for 27th.

Senior Sam Felton was 28th in 15:55, nearly a minute better then his previous high, and sophomore Derek Gielarowski crossed the finish line in a career-low 16:01 to place 32nd.

The Titans will now get ready for the Horizon League Championship next Saturday, Nov. 2, held at Boardman High School in Boardman, Ohio. The event is hosted by Youngstown State.
