EUGENE, Ore. -- Fifth-year senior Amanda Eccleston (Adrian, Mich./Tecumseh) of the University of Michigan women's track and field team qualified for the 1,500-meter run final on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday (June 6) at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field.

Eccleston started in the back of the pack and with 200 meters to go had made her way to the middle. On the final straightaway, she was edged by Florida State's Linden Hall by .78 seconds, crossing the line at 4:16.29 in seventh place. Heat two proved to be the slower of the two heats, as Eccleston and Hall secured the two at-large spots in the finals. The top five finishers in each heat and the next two best times advance to the finals, which will take place on Saturday (June 8) at 2:19 p.m. PDT.

Senior Rebecca Addison (Spring Lake, Mich./Grand Haven) competed in heat two of the 1,500-meter run, where she finished 23rd in a time of 4:28.89. Addison made a move from the back of the pack into second place with about 600 meters to go but could not hold the pace on the bell lap.

In the discus, senior Erin Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) improved on each of her three throws, hitting a mark of 49.96 meters (163-11) on her third toss to finish 18th overall.

Addison and Pendleton each conclude their collegiate careers at Michigan, earning All-America honorable mention recognition for their performances.

Senior/junior Kiley Tobel (Commerce Twp., Mich./Walled Lake Western) will be the only Wolverines in action tomorrow (Friday, June 7), competing in the pole vault at 3:15 p.m. PDT.
