EUGENE, Ore. -- Fifth-year senior decathlete Kurt Reichenbach (Brighton, Mich./Pinckney Community) senior/junior hammer thrower Ethan Dennis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grandville) of the University of Michigan men's track and field team each earned All-America honorable mention recognition on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday (June 6) at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field.
Dennis' first throw of 60.97 meters (200-0) proved to be his best of the day, as he finished 20th overall in his first career appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Reichenbach completed the final five events of the decathlon, finishing in 21st place with a total of 7,013 points. His two highest finishing events of the competition came on the last two events, as he placed 14th in the javelin with a mark of 52.79 meters (173-2) and 15th in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:44.71. He capped his Michigan career as the school-record holder in the decathlon with 7,412 points and an Honorable Mention All-American.
Junior Ali Arastu (Northville, Mich./Northville) will be the only Wolverine in action tomorrow (Friday, June 7), competing in the 400-meter hurdle finals at 4:40 p.m. PDT. He is guaranteed All-America first team status if he finishes the race.
