Detroit Mercy Women - Titans Compete at Hillsdale and Central Michigan

DETROIT (4/27/2013) -- It was the final weekend before the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the University of Detroit Mercy outdoor women's track and field team participated in the Hillsdale Relays and the Lyle Bennett Open at Central Michigan.
At Central Michigan, Aisha Potts-Tyre had a personal record in the long jump with a mark of 5.43m to place first of 15 with Bri Soule close behind in third at 5.17m.
Kayla Zauner was second in the triple jump setting a new season-best at 11.06m.
Brandee Hart was third in the 100 meter hurdles at 14.82
Allison Garner set a PR in the 100 meter dash placing fourth with a time of 12.30 and Liz Arroyo (13.34), also had a new PR in the same event. Garner added another PR in the 200 meters at 25.45.
Sarah Martinez was just off a personal-best of 2:17.24 in the 800 meters clocking in at 2:18.89 but still had a fourth place finish.
At Hillsdale, a group of distance runners were in competition. Louisa Coppola improved on her No. 2 all-time Titan mark in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:17.41.
Rachel Hofsess (18:50.86) and Torrie Eger (19:21.33) had personal bests in the 5000 meter race.
Finally, in the 3000 meter steeplechase, Sara Taylor made her debut in the event with a time of 11:47.67 and Zeinab Baydoun had a time of 11:54.98.
Detroit will now focus on hosting the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 3-5 at Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium. Multi-events begin at 2pm on Friday afternoon. Click HERE for a link to visit Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championship Central.
