KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) – Two relay teams finished second to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team in the final day of the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., April 13.

A trio of freshman and a sophomore combined to place runner-up in the 4x100-meter relay as Vanessa Clerveaux, Aaliyah McKinney, Morgan Yeadon and Danielle Clark finished the race in 45.98. The Eagles showed its team depth from sprinters to distance runners as the team of Morgan Churchwell, Victoria Voronko, Marina Manjon-Rivadulla and Rachel Quaintance took second in the 4x1,500-meter relay with a time of 18:43.52.

Churchwell, the EMU senior and team co-captain, talked to Eagle All-Access earlier this week, mentioning she wanted to put together a good run in the 1,500-meter run that would automatically qualify her for the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships. She did just that, turning in a personal-best time of 4:31.38 in the showcase event to place third. That time not only breaks Churchwell's personal record by two seconds, but it also is the fastest time by a MAC runner this outdoor season.

After qualifying in the prelims on Saturday, April 12, and securing her spot in the MAC Outdoor Championships, McKinney took eighth in the 200-meter dash finals with a time of 24.61.

In the 400-meter dash showcase, senior Asia Rawls and freshman Latipha Cross raced neck-and-neck, finishing in 55.30 and 55.31 for places sixth and seventh, respectively. The duo teamed with Clark and Yeadon in the 4x400-meter relay for a time of 3:47.26.

The Green and White will take the track at home for the only time this outdoor season, hosting the EMU Twilight on Olds/Marshall Track, April 19-20. The meet is set to begin Friday, April 19, at 3 p.m.
