Detroit Mercy - Freshman Garner Moves Into Top Ten in 100 Meters at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (3/30/2013) -- Freshman Allison Garner placed seventh in the 100 meters and helped the 4x100 meter relay team to a seventh place finish on Saturday as the University of Detroit Mercy outdoor women's track and field team began the 2013 season Friday at the Toledo Collegiate Challenge Friday and Saturday in Toledo.
In the 100 meters, Allison Garner ran a time of 12.54 to come in seventh which moved her into the No. 10 spot on the Titan all-time list.
Garner was also part of the 4x100 meter relay team along with Nicole Meisner, Brandee Hart, and Jessica Doherty that came in seventh with a time of 48.72. Garner ran in the 200 meters as well and came in 16th with a mark of 25.82.
The high jump featured Stephanie Cuniberti who finished tied for third at 1.55m/5-1. The triple jump saw Whitney Rogers jump 11.03m/36-2.25 to come in fifth overall.
Hart led Detroit in the 100 meter hurdles with a mark of 14.92 while Aisha Potts-Tyre was close behind with a time of 15.86. Hana Hunt was also in that event and set a new personal best of 16.62 and captured a win in her heat.
In the 1500 meters, Louisa Coppola clocked in at 4:44.24 and placed 10th overall. In the 5000 meter race, Torrie Eger ran a personal best of 19:35.16
The next meet for Detroit will be its annual home meet as UDM will host Oakland on Saturday, April 6 at 3:00 p.m. The event is FREE and the annual Open Mile and Kids Race are both open to the public.
