EMU - Kalinowski Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University men's indoor track and field team member Grzegorz Kalinowski (Lysomice, Poland) was named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week by the league office today, Feb. 28, for the week, Feb. 18-24. The award is the first of his career.

The MAC Scholar Athlete Award is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by the conference's faculty athletic representatives.

Kalinowski, who boasts a 3.75 GPA as a marketing major, helped EMU claim its 14th MAC Indoor Track and Field Championship while being named Most Outstanding Track Performer by the conference coaches. The junior from Lysomice, Poland took the MAC Championship in the mile, sprinting the last 200-meters towards the finish line with a time of 4:10.65.

Kalinowski also finished runner-up in the 800-meter run in 1:51.76, and he was also the anchor of the distance medley relay team that claimed a conference title on day one of the conference championship meet on EMU's Bob Parks Track.
