YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team will host the 2013 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, Feb. 22-23, at Bob Parks Track inside Bowen Field House.

“We anticipate the MAC Championships being a very exciting and competitive competition,” mentioned EMU Head Coach John Goodridge. “Bowen Field House has been the site of great track and field competition since 1958 ,and 2013 promises to deliver more of the same. The weekend is extra special as we have many alums returning to campus for two receptions.”

The competition begins Friday, Feb. 22 with the women's pentathlon at 10:30 a.m., and the day will end with the men's distance medley at 7:30 p.m. The final day of competition starts at 10 a.m. with the men's weight throw, and the meet will conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 4:35 p.m. Live results throughout the meet can be found at EMUEagles.com.

Five MAC schools will be competing: the University of Akron, the University at Buffalo, Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University and Kent State University.

EMU is hosting the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships for the first time since 2008. At that conference championship, the host Eagles captured the men's title while Akron was victorious for the women's championship.

A season ago, EMU's Terefe Ejigu was the standout athlete at the meet, being named the Most Valuable Performer and first team All-MAC. Ejigu took first in the 5,000-meter run and the one mile run, while claiming second in the 3,000-meter run. Chris Scott was also named to the All-MAC First Team, while Cameron Bolton and Grzegorz Kalinowski were each named to the second team. As a team, the Eagles finished in fourth place.

Tickets for this year's meet are $10 for an adult and $5 for youth (ages 3-12) for a one day pass. Adults can purchase an all-session (both days) pass for $15 while it will cost youth $8 for the all-session pass. Students with MAC institution ID's will be admitted into the event for $2. While tickets will be sold at the door, the meet is expected to sell out. With only 1,250 tickets being sold for the meet, fans are encouraged to purchase pre-sale tickets online. Pre-sale tickets are now available to the public at EMUTix.com.
