WINDSOR, Ont. (2/9/2013) -- Brandee Hart of the University of Detroit Mercy women's indoor track and field team ran onto the Titan all-time list in the 300 meter race as she finished with a time of 41.32 at the Windsor Team Challenge on Saturday. A few Titans were also competing at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Friday.
In the 300 meter race, Hart ran with a time of 41.32 to set the new No. 3 time on the all-time Titan list while Jasmine Greene slid into the No. 4 Titan spot with a mark of 41.71.
Hart was not done there as she set a new season-best in the 60 meter hurdles clocking in at 8.99 that gave her a fifth place finish.
Hart and Greene were both part of the 4x400 meter relay team as the team finished at 4:04.59 and a second place finish. Hart (1:01.5) led off and Alani Letang (1:02.1), Nikia Duncan (1:01.7), and Jasmine Greene (59.3) had the anchor leg.
Greene was the lone female athlete at GVSU on Friday and she competed in the 400 meter race and finished with a time of 58.03 placing 20th out of 43 runners, narrowly improving on her personal best of 58.04 that she set last week.
Aisha Potts-Tyre improved in her second-ever collegiate pentathlon placing fourth with a total of 3010 points, just 14 points shy of a UDM record. She set personal records in both the long jump (5.04m) and in the 800 meter race (2:47.27).
In the 60 meter run, Duncan was fifth at 7.87 and Allison Garner set another personal best continuing to improve every week with another PR at 7.89, just behind Duncan. The mark for Garner gives her the No. 6 all-time mark in Titan history.
In field events, Whitney Rogers followed up her UDM indoor record setting mark in the triple jump with a second place finish and an 11.39m jump. The weight throw had Allyson Koglin finish sixth with a distance of 14.57m/47-9. The long jump saw senior Bri Soule come in fourth with a jump of 5.21m.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Garner, Jessica Doherty, Stephany Brown, and Letang established a new UDM rookie record, the second in as many weeks. The foursome finished with a time of 1:45.63 and was not far off the UDM mark of 1:49.2 set back in 1998.
UDM had a 2-3 finish in the 1000 meters with Sarah Martinez edging out Sara Taylor. Both finished with new PR's as Martinez had a mark of 3:03.19 and Taylor came in close behind at 3:04.86. Martinez now has the No. 6 all-time Titan mark and Taylor is not far behind now at No. 8.
Detroit will again have multiple competitions next week as Grand Valley State will host the GVSU Tune-up in Allendale and Michigan will host the Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor.
