ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (8/31/2012) – Senior Katrina Oberski posted a top-5 finish, while sophomore Zeinab Baydoun took eight as the UDM women's cross country team opened the 2012 season at the Golden Grizzly Open, held on the campus of Oakland University.

The non-scored race included three Division I teams in the Titans, OU and IPFW.

Oberski was in the top 10 from the very start, never falling out of contention for the win as she posted a time of 15:15 in the 4k meet for fourth.

"It was really hot today and coach told us to go out slow and it didn't really happen today," said Oberski. "I trained all summer and just did what I have been doing for the past three years. We have a good pack, we are a lot closer then we have been in the past and once we get everybody healthy and running, we should be pretty good this year."

Baydoun finished the race in 15:29, while senior Sarah Martinez crossed the line in15:42 for 10th.

Junior Rachel Hofsess was the fourth Titan in at 15:51 earning 13th place.

The Titans will be back in action next as they host the 26th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational at Cass Benton Park. For more information on the race, click here.
