NEW ORLEANS -- Western Michigan track and field's 4x400 meter relay team of Andrea Arnold, Iris Campbell, Victoria Chatman and Leya Munwam have been named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Second Team All-Americans.

The four combined to run a time of 3:34.83 in the semifinals of the 4x400 at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, but fell just shy of making the finals. It was not only the fastest time of the year for the squad but the third fastest time in program history.

The team becomes the 11th All-American selection in WMU track and field program history but the first relay squad ever selected. The 4x400 has been a bright spot for the Broncos during head coach Kelly Lycan's 12-year tenure with the teams, both indoor and outdoor, routinely finishing amongst the nation's top 20.

This is the first time the USTFCCCA has named a Second Team. Previously All-Americans were given to the top eight finishers in each event. This season's 4x400 team finished 14th overall at the NCAA Championships.

WMU's most recent All-American was thrower Irene Cooper, who finished third overall in the indoor weight throw in 2009. The Brown & Gold's last outdoor All-American were Becky Horn and Danielle Brown. Brown was an All-American in the 400 meter hurdles and Horn in the 800 meter run.
