MARION, IN (5/25) Cornerstone freshman, Brittany Green returned for the second day of the heptathlon competition looking to maintain her position in the top five.

In the long jump, the first of the three remaining events, Green leaped 18' 2.5" on her second attempt. Her third jump was even better but the official at the take-off board put up the red flag. "It must have been a toenail foul," said CU mulit-even coach, Paul Koutz, "I thought she got all the way to end of the board, but she must have got that plus a little more." Brittany's best jump was second best in the field and worth 715 points.

Next up in the javelin, Green struggled with a crosswind that blew two of her three attempts over the right sector line. Her legal throw measured 93' 2", only 11th overall and 446 points.

For the final event, the 800 meters, Brittany needed to finish within 9 seconds of Erin DeVries of Doane to hold on to sixth place. A determined 2:41.09 effort was tenth in the race, worth 560 points and 4480 for the seven events. Her score broke her own freshman record set in April and sixth overall. Brianna Leslie won with 5308 points.

By early afternoon temperatures on the track were close to 90 degrees for the 5,000 meter race walk. Janelle Brown completed her collegiate career as National Runner up, taking second in 27:07.29. Monica Lawrence earner her first outdoor All-America honors in fourth in 29:12.67. "The heat certainly effected the times today," said coach Rod Wortley. "Both our women managed the conditions well. I'm proud of Janelle for earning All-America honors for the third time outdoors to go with her four times indoors. She's been one of the best in the NAIA for five years."

Julie Oosterhouse advanced to Saturday's final in the 800 meters after running 2:14.51 for fifth in her semi-final heat. She has the 6th best time going into the finals.

The day concluded with the women's 4 x 400 meter relay team of Lindsay Lipa, Oosterhouse, Larissa Hampton and Lauren Pierce taking eighth in their semi-final heat running 3:55.29.
