Siena Heights - SHU 4x400 Headlines Men's Track & Field's Top NAIA Qualifiers

MARION, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's track and field team will be represented by 14 student-athletes in 15 individual events -- and one relay team -- at the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Championships at Indiana Wesleyan. NAIAs will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday.



The Saints' 4x400-meter relay squad is seeded second in the NAIA with a time of 3:12.29. Team members will include any combination of the following five: Anton Darby (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Anderson), Doug Dawson (Roseville, Mich./Roseville), Ryan McElyea (Flint, Mich./Carman-Ainsworth), Logan Moore (Southgate, Mich./Anderson) and Jesiah Rodriguez (Erie, Mich./Erie Mason).



Dawson is also rated fifth in the individual 400 with a seed time of :47.44.



Other NAIA Championships qualifiers for Siena Heights are:


• Ryan Hopson (Albion, Mich./Albion), who is seeded fifth in the long jump (7.41 meters) and 16th in the triple jump (14.51m).



• Pole vaulters Richard DePalma (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven), Chris Schurr (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) and Matt Leaders (Hillsdale, Mich./Hillsdale). DePalma and Schurr are both seeded sixth (4.90m) while Leaders is 11th (4.80m).



• Moore, who is listed seventh in the 110 hurdles with a :14.44.



• Decathletes Nathan Donnellon (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Travis Derscheid (Evart, Mich./Evart) and Calvin Sullins (Sand Creek, Mich.), who are seeded eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively. Donnellon had a qualifying score of 6,428, Derscheid has a 6,417 and Sullins managed a 6,371.



• Rodriguez, who is 12th in the 1,500 with a 3:53.63, and Zach Widner (Detroit, Mich./Weston Prep), who is 18th with a 3:54.14.



• Will Hinton (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview), 15th in the discus with a 49.08m.



• Ray Carney (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield), 22nd in the hammer throw with a 53.90m.



• Brett Smith (Linden, Mich./Lake Fenton), 30th in the marathon with a 1:12.50.00.
