DETROIT -- The 2011-12 women's track and field season featured indoor and outdoor seasons. The season started on December 2 with an indoor meet at the Blue and Gold Invitational at Notre Dame and ended at the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 4-6.

Outdoor Season

The 2012 women's outdoor track and field season culminated at the Horizon League Championships in Wauwatosa, WI at Wisconsin Lutheran College from May 4-6 with Milwaukee serving as the host for this year's events. UDM ended the outdoor championships placing seventh out of eight teams.

Highlights from the conference championships included junior Nikia Duncan as the top finisher for the women as she placed second in the 100m at 12:08 setting a new personal best in the race. Also in the 100m, sophomore Nicole Meisner was fifth at 12:20. Brandee Hart set a new school record in the 100m hurdles coming in sixth with a time of 14.25. The 4x100m relay team had a fourth place finish as Meisner, Hart, Whitney Rogers and Duncan had a time of 49.02.

In the heptathlon, freshman Hana Hunt finished fourth with 3, 594 points for the sixth best all-time Titan mark while senior Amanda Campbell placed sixth and set a new PR with 3,435 points and the new eighth best all-time Titan mark.

The 3000m steeplechase featured freshman Zeinab Baydoun completing the race clocking in at 11:27.28 to place fifth. The finish scored two points for Detroit after a fall took her out of a potential third place finish. Katrina Oberski also timed in right behind her adding a point to the Detroit total with a time of 11:33.59 in sixth.

The seventh annual Oakland-Detroit dual took place at Titan Field on April 7 as both the Detroit men and women won team victories head-to-head over Oakland. The women won by a score of 111-77 as the meet also served as senior day for the lone female senior, Susan Kalkstein. Academically, Kalkstein was named the Co-Valedictorian of the 2012 graduating class and presented a speech during undergraduate commencement ceremonies at Calihan Hall on May 12.

Other highlights from the women's team in the outdoor season included Brandee Hart qualifying for the finals in the 100m hurdles at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State on April 20-21 by setting a new personal best at 14.95. In the finals, she bettered that to 14.52 to place sixth overall. The mark is also #2 all-time in the Titan record books.

Indoor Season

The indoor track team featured new highs as the Titans went to 11 meets including the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships that were hosted by Youngstown State on Feb. 25-26. UDM ended the indoor championships placing seventh out of eight teams.

Senior Sequoyia Calhoun captured the women's 400m title at the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 55.34. Her mark established a new conference record and it was also her third straight 400m title after being the champion in both the indoor and outdoor seasons a year ago.

In that same 400m race at Youngstown State, freshman Jasmine Greene set a new personal record placing fifth timing in at 58.32. In the 200m run, freshman Brandee Hart came in third clocking in at 25.45.
