Detroit Mercy Women - Detroit Completes Final Tune-Up Before League Championship

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- The women's team competed at the Lyle Bennett Open at Central Michigan this past weekend in the final tune-up before the conference outdoor championships next weekend in Milwaukee.
The distance and mid-distance runners have continued to improve as another PR was set as it was Katrina Oberski this time who set a new high coming in third in the 1500m with a time of 5:00.23.
The 800m race saw Ciara Curley-Poppe and Sarah Martinez finish back-to-back with Martinez having a slight edge at 2:21.40 in seventh and Curley-Poppe coming in at 2:21.46.
The 4x400 relay saw Olivia Smid, Curley-Poppe, Sara Taylor and Amanda Campbell place third timing in with a 4:13.56 mark.
Allyson Koglin came in sixth in the hammer throw with a throw of 141 feet and eight inches. She also placed ninth in the discus at 122-05. In other field events, Kayla Zauner was fifth in the triple jump at 10.18m.
The Titan sprinters were all close to each other in their finishes and teamed together to place fourth in the 4x100m relay. That relay team of Nicole Meisner, Brandee Hart, Whitney Rogers and Nikia Duncan ran with a time of 49.18.
In other sprints, Brandee Hart was the top Titan in the 100H with a time of 15.21 and a third place finish. In the 100m sprint, Meisner placed eighth at 12.53, just .08 seconds off her personal best with Duncan right behind her at 12.88. The 200m dash featured Meisner coming in sixth (25.75) while Hart was eighth (25.97).
The Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships are up next and will be at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa, WI this coming weekend as the Milwaukee Panthers will serve as host this year.
