EMU - Eagles Complete Compeition at Mt. SAC and GVSU

WALNUT, Calif./ALLENDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team traveled to both the west coast and Grand Valley State University this weekend to compete in a pair of competitions. Part of the team trekked to California for the Mt. SAC Relays while another portion of the team headed to the west side of Michigan for the Al Owens Classic hosted by GVSU.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, Cameron Bolton placed 16th in the 400-meter dash in 47.70, the second-best time by a Mid-American Conference athlete, while also setting a new standard in the MAC with a 21.41 finish in the 200-meter dash. Terefe Ejigu set a new MAC-best in the 5,000-meter run by completing the distance in 14:01.76, which also ranks sixth best in EMU history. Daryl Smith was able to take 19 th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:27.52.
Back at the Al Owens Classic the Eagles had many spectacular performances, including second-place finishes for Cody Chabola in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Max Babits in the pole vault.
Robert Tarpley was able to leap 6.81-meters in the long jump for a first-place finish, while Warren Witchell's 3:57.52 was good for sixth in the 1,500-meter run.
Eastern continues its outdoor track schedule with a pair of events next weekend. The Eagles will travel to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., as well as heading to Hillsdale, Mich. for the Hillsdale Gina Relays, April 26-28.
