Detroit Mercy Track and Field Heads to Bucknell

DETROIT -- The Detroit Titans will head back on the road after hosting its lone home meet of the 2012 season last Saturday. The Titans will send athletes to the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell in Lewisburg, PA for a two-day event over Saturday and Sunday.

Last weekend's dual meet against Oakland saw both the men and women post victories in the head-to-head contest. The women scored a 111-77 win while the men upended the Grizzlies, 111-71.

The women were led by Nicole Meisner and Nikia Duncan who finished one-two in the 100m and 200m runs. Duncan came out on top in the 100m with a time of 12.53 and Meisner came back for the 200m victory clocking in at 25.87.

In the women's throws, Allyson Koglin captured three first place finishes and one second place. She had a hammer throw of 187 feet and eight inches en route to a first place finish that was a new personal best. She added her second first, and another new PR, in the javelin with a throw of 86 feet, 10 inches and completed the day topping the competition in the discus throw with a distance of 118 feet. In the shot put, she placed second with a distance of 36 feet, two inches.

On the men's side, Vushaun Landrum crossed the line first in the 100m dash with a time of 11.02 with teammate Charles Anthony close behind at 11.20. The 200m race saw Landrum also cross first with a mark of 22.40 and Anthony at 22.74.

In the throws, Eric Lewis had a pair of first place finishes to top the competition. He had a hammer throw of 187 feet and eight inches that set a new OU dual meet record and also a new PR. In addition, he led the way in the discus throw with a toss of 135 feet.

After this weekend, the Titans will head to Allendale to compete at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State on April 20-21.
