April 7, 2012 - Hillsdale College junior Kayla Caldwell was the champion of the pole vault event at the Division I-heavy Miami University Invitational in Oxford, Ohio this weekend.
Caldwell was the top performer for the Chargers, who finished in fifth place as a team at the meet with 49.5 points.
Caldwell, already a multi-time All-American, is healthy and performing extremely well during this 2012 outdoor season. Her win at Miami marks the second week in a row she's been the winner of the pole vault event, against mostly Division I competition.
Other top finishers for the women's team included Chelsea Wackernagel, who wasn't far behind Caldwell in the pole vault, finishing third with a mark of 3.69 meters, as well as junior Adiranna Yancho, who cleared 1.57 meters in the high jump, finishing in third place.
Teammates Shannon Neby and Kathy Dirksen went 4-6 in the hammer throw, with Neby achieving a personal-best mark of 50.57 meters in the event.
