CMU - Day One Action Complete at the Alex Wilson Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Day one of the Alex Wilson Invitational, a last-chance NCAA Championships qualification meet, is in the books.
Senior thrower Kevin Mays, in his first weight throw action since the Akron Invitational two weeks ago, finished fifth with a mark of 66-09.25. Mays, ranked sixth in the nation according to the Track and Field Results Reporting System, has already clinched a berth to the NCAA National Championships next week at Boise State with a mark of 71-11.
Fellow throwers senior Ryan McCullough and sophomore Calvin Jackson did not post automatic qualifying marks. McCullough finished seventh with a toss of 60-08, while Jackson finished ninth after a heave of 57-05.
Senior middle-distance runner Veronica Garcia will compete in the mile run at Notre Dame during Saturday's day two action, while senior multi-event student-athlete Josh Kettlewell (pole vault), senior sprinter Kirlene Roberts (60m dash) and junior hurdler Renaldo Powell (60m hurdles) will compete at Virginia Tech.
The women's mile at Notre Dame will begin at approximately 1:45 p.m.
At Virginia Tech, the men's 60m hurdle preliminary heats begin at 12:10 p.m., followed by the women's 60m dash preliminaries at 12:20 p.m. Semi-finals and finals for both events will follow throughout the afternoon. The men's seeded pole vault will begin at approximately 2 p.m.
