EMU Women - Eagles Take First in Multiple Events at Grand Valley State

ALLENDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track team completed competition at the 2012 Grand Valley State University “Big Meet” Saturday, Feb. 11. It was the fourth consecutive year that the Eagles participated in the two-day event.
The Green and White started the meet out successfully on Friday after posting multiple top-five finishes at the Kelly Family Sports Center. Brooke Sciullo placed fifth in the 600-meter run after completing the distance in 1:39.82. Danielle Clark took fourth in the 60-meter dash with a 7.72 and won the 200-meter dash with a 24.61. Shantavia Williams followed suit by taking the 400-meter dash in 54.30. Beverly Elcock also took a top-place by winning the 800-meter run in 2:08.41, which was the best time posted by anyone in the Mid-American Conference this season.
In Friday's field events, Rosie White took the top-spot in the long jump after leaping 18-feet and 6.50-inches and Angela Scarber placed seventh in the weight throw with a 57-feet and 11.75-inch toss. Kate Wolanin took third in the pentathlon with 3,517 points. Wolanin's best performance in the pentathlon events was the shot put, in which she placed first with a 34-feet and 3.50-inch chuck. Tatijana Jacobson placed seventh in the pentathlon for EMU.
The EMU women's track team will be in competition again next Saturday, Feb. 18, when they travel to Ann Arbor for the Silverston Invitational and its final meet before the Mid-American Indoor Championships Feb. 24-25 in Akron, Ohio.
