EMU Women - Eagles Finish Competition at Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan women's track and field team completed action in the 2012 Meyo Invitational held by the University of Notre Dame, Saturday, Feb. 4. EMU had much success throughout the two-day tournament including multiple top-five finishes.
Shantavia Williams was able to record another top-five finish completing the 400-meter dash with a 54.10 finish, good for second place. Beverly Elcock continued her success this season in the 800-meter run with a third place finish after crossing the line in 2:09.53, while Danielle Clark was able to finish seventh in the 200-meter dash for EMU with a time of 24.47.
ReJeana Margina took a top-five spot in the 60-meter dash by sprinting the distance in 7.57. Asia Rawls recorded a fifth place finish in the 500-meter for EMU by crossing the line in 1:14.91 and the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team was successful coming in with a second place finish at 3:42.69. The 4x400 team consisted of Williams, Elcock, Rawls and Margina. On Friday, the Eagles' distance medley relay team set a new Eastern Michigan record by completing the race in 11:30.21. The distance medley team included Williams, Elcock, Victoria Voronko and Morgan Churchwell.
In the field events EMU struggled as they had just one top-five finish in the weekend's events. Angela Scarber set a new EMU record on Friday with a 17.85-meter toss in the weight throw. Rosie White finished ninth in the long jump by leaping 5.81-meters in the Meyo Invite.
The Eagles' track team heads to Allendale, Mich. Friday, Feb. 10, to start the Grand Valley State University “Big Meet”. The “Big Meet” is a two-day event spanning from Feb. 10-11.
