Wayne State Women's Cross Country Runs To Fourth Place Showing At GLIAC Championships

Ashland, Ohio – The Wayne State University women's cross country team recorded a fourth place finish at the 2011 GLIAC Championships on Saturday.
Senior Jen Rock (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Eisenhower (Loyola University)) ended the 6k race hosted by Ashland University in 12th (22:54.07) to earn All-GLIAC Second Team honors.
“I'm proud of Jen,” coach Rick Cummins said. “She has grown as a runner immeasurably in the past year. Our team was good today, but we will be better in two weeks at the regional race.”
Junior Chelsie Fuller (Saginaw, Mich. / Freeland) posted a 24th place finish with a time of 23:39.38, while freshman Amanda Brewer (Ionia, Mich. / Ionia) ended her GLIAC Championship debut with a respectable 32nd place finish (23:51.24).
Sophomores Olivia Kwiatkowski (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Utica) (24:18.99) and Jamie Palmer (Vassar, Mich. / Vassar) (24:19.33) crossed the finish line simultaneously in 50th and 51st, respectively.
Fellow sophomore Kayla Gagnon (Riverview, Mich. / Riverview) garnered a 73rd place showing with a time of 25:17.69 and senior Robin Coolsaet (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) tallied a 78th place mark (25:26.73).
Rounding out the Warriors were junior Samantha Kaufman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion) (84th-25:37.90) and sophomore Rachel Bandrow (Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion) (94th-26:26.02).
