Eagles Head South for Greater Louisville Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team will make the 347-mile trek to Louisville, Ky. this Saturday, Oct. 1 to take part in the 10th Annual Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic.
Saturday's event represents one of the largest college meets in the south and will feature 29 teams as well as several unattached participants in the Women's Gold race. Southern Indiana, Washington University in St. Louis, No. 13 Michigan, Alabama, DePaul, Ferris State, Marquette, Albany, Bellarmine, Lipscomb, Queens, Kentucky, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, Purdue, St. Louis, Louisville, Ole Miss, South Florida, Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Arkansas State, East Carolina, Hope College, Middle Tennessee, Southern Illinois, and West Virginia's "B" squad will be participating this Saturday.
Saturday's lineup should provide yet another opportunity to race with some of the top programs in the country after coming off of the highly competitive Inter-Collegiate Bubble Buster in Toledo, Ohio on Sept. 23.
At the Bubble Buster, freshman Victoria Voronko (Moscow, Russia-University of Moscow) paced the Eagles for the second consecutive race, completing the 3,000-meter event in 13:56.9, for a 21st place finish, while Morgan Churchwell (Ada, Mich.-Forest Hills North) completed the distance in 30th place for the Green and White (14:13.5).
This weekend's race will be held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, a 5,000-meter course that features two hills with overall flat to rolling terrain. Race time is set for 10:15 a.m.
