Snyder Named Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Week
- PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan senior All-American
Todd Snyder (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS) earned Big Ten
Conference men's cross country Athlete of the Week honors, the league
office announced Wednesday (Oct. 7). It marks the first such honors of
his career for Snyder, who won the 8,000-meter Paul Short Run at Lehigh
University last Saturday (Oct. 3) in course-record time (22:44.15) to lead
the Wolverines to a share of the team championship.
Snyder earned All-America and All-Big Ten Second-Team honors as a junior
in 1997. Michigan's No. 2 runner this year, Snyder also ran at the
Mountain West Classic in Missoula, Mont. (Sept. 26). He finished seventh
there, helping Michigan to a runnerup team finish.
Currently ranked sixth in the country, Michigan heads for Orono, Maine, to
defend its title at the Murray Keatinge Invitational on Saturday (Oct.
10).
