Theisen and Sullivan Qualify for Next Rounds at NCAA Outdoor Championship

Buffalo, NY -- Senior co-captains Brian Theisen (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead HS) and Kevin Sullivan (Brantford, ONT/North Park) each advanced in their respective events at the 1998 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

First, Theisen qualified for the semi-final heats in the 110-m hurdles after placing fifth in his heat with a time of 14.39. Theisen, the Big Ten champ in the 110-m hurdles two weeks ago will atempt to qualify for the finals Friday evening at 7:35 p.m. Joining Theisen as Wolverines to move on was Sullivan, who is shooting for his second NCAA outdoor title in the 1500-m run. Sullivan ran the third fastest time in the semi-final round as he finished third in his heat with a comfortable time of 3:41.99. Sullivan will have two days to rest before the final in the 1500-m run which is scheduled to take place at 7:20 p.m. Saturday evening.

Notes:

-- Sullivan ran the fastest 1500-m in the nation earlier this year at the Len Paddock Invitational at Michigan's Ferry Field with a time of 3:36.62.
