Rish's time was 52:36 Saturday afternoon. One day earlier, he clocked in at 52:14 in the preliminaries, setting a UDM record for the event while qualifying for the finals. "Mark had a bit of a breakthrough to the elite level with this performance," coach Guy Murray said. "He has been consistently hanging in there, but he proved he belonged in a fast competition." Detroit also had a top 10 finish in the Distance Medley Relay, when the team of Tom Jacobs (West Branch, MI/Ogemaw Heights), Risch, Eric McKeon(Whit Lake, MI/Catholic Central) and Corey Stedman (Ortonville,MI/Warren Cousino) came home 10th in a UDM outdoor record time of 10:02.03. -UDM- |
