Kalamazoo, Michigan - The grizzlies traveled out west to Kalamazoo to compete in
the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Western Michigan University.
A beautiful golf course coupled with perfect weather made for fast times all
around for OU.
The ladies led it off with their first female runner in 2 years to break 19
minutes as junior Jeanine Chura turned in a 18:55 performance good for 52nd
place. Following close behind was freshman Betsy Speer in 59th with a time of
19:00, and rounding out the top trio was freshman Jennifer Kunst in 63rd with
a time of 19:06. Senior Ann Dzeroogian turned in her best performance of the
year with a time of 20:15, good for 137th, and rounding out the scoring was
freshman Kristin Lenderman with a time of 21:08, good for 177th place. The rest
of the Grizzly Girl finishers included Colleen Fradette at 21:10, Sarah George
at 21:16, Beth Knight at 21:39, and Kelly Fradette at 21:44. All these fast
times added up to a 14th place finish out of 24 teams!
The men kept the trend going with PR�s from their top four runners. Leading the
way for the Grizzly Guys was freshman Ryan Bissell with a time of 27:12,
followed by freshman Brian Phillips at 27:18, third was Senior Scott Turner with
a lifetime PR of 27:52, and following closely behind was freshman Kevin Donovan
at 27:57. Rounding out the top five was freshman Kurt Brinker at 28:35. Other
finishers included Josh Lyon at 29:29, and Mark Jenkins at 30:53. Those PR's all
added up to an 18th place finish (The men were without freshman Bill Monnett).
