Kankankee, IL -- A large field, fast course, and beautiful weather told the
story as OU traveled to Kankakee, IL to compete in the ONU Great Midwest
Classic. With watches on the line for the top 25 finishers, the extra motivation
was there to make it a goodone. 


The ladies were paced once again by freshman Jenny Kunst finishing 15th with a
time of 19:25. Following closely behind was Betsy Speer in 17th with a time of
19:27, and just 10 seconds back was our unattached star runner Nicki Thouin with
a time of 19:37, good for 19th place. All three came home with some cool
watches. Finishing out the top 5 (not counting Nicki) was Jeanine Chura in 61st
with a time of 20:38, Ann Dzeroogian in 107th with a time of 21:22, and Sarah
George in 110th with a time of 21:25. The rest of the OU finishers included
Kristin Lenderman (21:50), Beth Knight (22:03), Kelly Fradette (22:43), and
Colleen Fradette (22:54). The Grizzly Girls finished the season with a 12th
place finish out of 26 teams!


The same conditions favored the men as well. The guys were led for the first
time this season by freshman Brian Phillips who finished in 83rd place with a
time of 27:36. Following closely behind was Bill Monnett in 89th with a time of
27:43. Rounding out the top 5 were Ryan Bissell in 103rd (28:00), Kurt Brinker
in 109th (28:04), and senior Scott Turner in 149th (28:47). The rest of the guys
included Kevin Donovan (29:02), Josh Lyon (30:12), Mark Jenkins (30:21), senior
Andy McCloskey (30:52), and Matt Pardo (32:12). The men finished up the season
with a 16th place finish out of 29 teams!
