We wanted to make you aware of a wonderful opportunity being offered, by the Michigan Coalition on Donation (MCOD), to all Michigan high schools at the 4th annual "Gift of Life - Just Zoo It" 5K run and 1.5 mile walk. This event will be held at the Detroit Zoo the morning of July 18, 1998. See below for details. PRIZES: For the second consecutive year MCOD is once again proud to announce the continuation of the "High School Challenge" at this year's event. The High School Challenge is a great way for you to increase your purchasing power and decrease budgetary restraints. Additional medals or gifts will also be awarded to male and female runners who finish in the top five positions for their age category. All medals and gifts fall within the accepted guidelines established by the Michigan High School Athletics Association. Door prizes are also awarded to many of the registered walk participants. WHAT IS THE "HIGH SCHOOL CHALLENGE"? The High School Challenge is a cash equivalent prize of $2,000 that is awarded to the high school that has the highest number of registered participants at this year's Gift of Life - Just Zoo It 5K run and 1.5 mile walk. We count runners and walkers when establishing your participation total. The winning school will have an account established in their name, with an initial credit of $2,000, at Wolverine Sports in Ann Arbor for the purchase of athletic equipment for their program. WHO CAN REGISTER? Registration is not limited to students. It includes any registered participants (i.e. - mom, dad, brother, sister, friends, relatives or neighbors). Participants are required to designate on their registration form which school they are representing. This is the only way they will be included in your school's final participation total. HOW DO I REGISTER? Registration forms can be obtained by calling us at (313) 936-7492, the Motor City Striders at (810) 544-9099, or e-mail - mailto:[email protected]. You can also print a form directly off our home page at: http://www.med.umich.edu/trans/mcod/98zoo.html This year's winner will be announced during the awards ceremony. Last year's winner was Berkley High School. MCOD is comprised of leading hospitals, organizations, and agencies that are dedicated to increasing organ and tissue donation awareness, donation and transplantation within our state. We look forward to your participation. Please do not hesitate to contact Richard or myself if you have any additional question. Thanks for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Mark T.
