Ellsworth, Mi. Jenny Drenth has signed a national letter of intent to run cross country and track for Arizona State University. Drenth won the 800 meter Class D Championship as a member of the Central Lake/ Ellsworth cooperative track program during the 1997 outdoor track season. During the winter, she captured two AAU National Indoor Championships in the 800 and 1500 meter events. Her win in the 1500 meter also established a new national indoor record. Drenth, who is also a first team Al1 State basketball player, made visits to the University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, Central Michigan University, Western Michigan University, and Hillsdale. Drenth will be coached by her cousin Walt Drenth, a former Charlevoix native, who is head cross country and assistant track coach.
