Merrillville, Indiana... Ellsworth High School senior Jenny Drenth captured two AAU National Indoor Track
Championships this weekend. Running for Northern Michigan track
Club, Drenth on Saturday , running her first
800 meters of the year, ran 2:26.79 to edged out Minai
Lauterbach of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2:27.8) in the age group.
On Sunday Drenth set a new 17-18 AAU National
age group indoor record in the 1500Meters (4:57.37) by
fighting off Terry Vega (4:59.38) of the Southern California
Track Club for her second championship in two days. Drenth a first team all state basketball player for Ellsworth is the defending Class D 800 Meters Champion running for Central Lake in a co-op program. She has made official visits to the University of Michigan,the University of Notre Dame, and will be visiting Arizona State University later this month.
