Philadelphia Pa.-- Former three time state champion Casey Shay of Central lake finished fourth in the men's 3000 meter Olympic Development steeplechase at the Penn Relays. It was Shay's first race
of the season, and it came against some of the best pro runners in the country including Olympian Robert Cary.
Gary won the race in 8:34.3, Santiago Navarro was second (8:47.44) Jason Cullinance third (8:48.40) and Shay fourth (8:49.20).
Shay currently running for Northern Michigan Track Club will be graduating from Lubbock Christian University on May 9 with a degree
in accounting. At Lubbock Shay earned All-American honors nine times in track and cross country, academic All-American honors five times and
was the 1996 NAIA steeplechase national champion.
Shay will train in northern Michigan this summer and fall.
