Traverse City Bayshore Marathon & 10K Rumors Untrue! May 23, 1998 is the date of the 16th annual Bayshore Marathon & 10K. Despite the addition of several new sponsors, prize money for open and master marathoners, a local Bayshore Training program, and an upgraded aid station system; race director, Dave Taylor has been mystified at rumors from around the state that Bayshore has been cancelled. The rumors are certainly untrue. Requests for applications have been coming in at a record pace, not only from Michigan runners but also from runners across the country. "Our numbers have been up the last 4 years and and we are seeing a great increase from word of mouth alone. We have literally done zero advertising this year", says race director Dave Taylor. The Bayshore Marathon & 10K is one of four Traverse City area races put on by the Traverse City Track Club.
