FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Peggy Kelley (734) 332-3786 Amateur and Recreational Athletes Welcome Alternative Sports MagazineAmateur and recreational athletes in Michigan are buzzing about a new entry into the free magazine market designed with them in mind. The premier issue of Michigan Sports & Fitness magazine hit the streets December 3, and is already garnering praise from local retailers and organizations like the Michigan Mountain Bike Association, and the Ann Arbor Velo Club. Michigan Sports & Fitness magazine promotes an active, athletic lifestyle by providing recreational and amateur athletes with timely editorial on the sports they pursue. Each month the magazine will offer news, previews and reviews of events, colorful features on individuals and organizations and "The Source" - a monthly calendar of events the magazine's publishers believe is the most comprehensive calendar of amateur and recreational sports events in Michigan. "The magazine targets active readers between the age of 18 and 44 and is the only source in Michigan for the events, products and services that drive their athletic pursuits," said editor and publisher Peggy Kelley. Kelley, along with co-publisher Brian Smith based the magazine's format on similar successful publications in Chicago, Colorado, California and Boston. Paul Alman of the Ann Arbor Velo Club said, "Southeast Michigan is rich in recreational athletes who have accomplished amazing feats, and to have a magazine that will honor them is a wonderful addition to the community." Michigan Sports & Fitness gives local and national advertisers a targeted distribution of their message into the expanding Michigan market. The magazine is currently distributed in over 300 locations throughout Southeastern Michigan including specialty sports retail stores, health clubs, bike shops, running stores, sporting goods stores, resorts, races and other amateur athletic events, health food markets, cafes and sports medicine facilities. It is available by subscription for people outside of its current distribution area for $12 a year. ### |
