March 3rd, 1999 Ann Arbor Couple Qualifies for World Cross Country Championships Ann Arbor - The World Cross Country Championships are being held March 27-28, 1999 in Belfast, Ireland and two of Michigan's own will be there. Ann Arbor's Karen Harvey-Sullivan and Kevin Sullivan will be representing Canada in Women's and Men's 4K Championships. Karen Harvey-Sullivan is a University of Michigan Alumni and All-American. This past summer Karen competed for Canada at the 1998 Goodwill Games in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Karen has also competed for Canada on a Relay Road Race April 12th, 1998 in Seoul, Korea. Karen ran the anchor leg (4.2km) for Canada in the Relay Road race, and helped Canada to an 11th place finish out of 18 teams. Karen is currently running for Adidas, and she just won the EMU Open February 20th in a time of 4:45. Kevin Sullivan also a University of Michigan Alumni is the Canadian Record holder in the indoor mile. Kevin recently was selected for NCAA Today's Top Eight Award. Kevin was a 10 time Track All-American and 4-time Big Ten Cross Country Champion while running track and cross country for the University of Michigan. |
