Men's And Women's Cross Country Will Be In The NCAA Field

Irish women won the Great Lakes Regional and received and automatic
bid, men are selected as an at-large team.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- (11-18-02) The University of Notre Dame
cross country program received a bit of good news on Monday, Nov. 18.
Both Irish teams will represent the University at the 2002 NCAA Cross
Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 25. The Irish
women knew they were in the field, as they won their first Great
Lakes Regional title on Saturday, Nov. 16, to earn an automatic berth
in the national meet.
The men, who compete in the top cross country conference in
the nation and dueled with several ranked teams at the Great Lakes
Regional, were selected as an at-large team. Notre Dame's men's team
won the National Catholic meet and finished fourth at the BIG EAST
Championship this season.
Notre Dame women's head coach Tim Connelly will be featured
in a pre-meet press conference on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 1:00 p.m.
The 2002 BIG EAST coach of the year, Connelly will share the
podium with four women's coaches at 1:27 p.m. Patrick Shane (BYU),
Vin Lananna (Stanford) and Mark Wetmore (Colorado) will also be part
of the women's coaches portion of the press conference.
