RICHIE BRINKER, BRIAN SELL TO RUN FOR USA AT CHIBA EKIDEN ROAD RELAYS
USA team members Richie Brinker and Brian Sell of Hansons Team in
Rochester, Michigan will run two of the five legs of the prestigious Chiba
Ekiden International Road Relays in Tokyo on Saturday. Kevin and Keith
Hanson have accompanied the USA team to Japan; Kevin is the official men's
coach of the USA team. Additional men's team members are Ryan Kirkpatrick,
Colorado, Dave Davis and Nolan Swanson, Oregon, Teren Jameson of Oregon
and men's team leader Creigh Kelley of Colorado. USA's women's team will
also compete, running six legs of the 26.2 mile distance.

Michigan Runner cameras ventured to the annual Road Race Conference in
Fort Lauderdale this past week. Phil Stewart and Jeff Darmon's event draws
event directors from all over the U.S. We interview Pat Ball, Director of

and Awards of Traverse City, Dan Bloeborn of Sign me up Sports and Creigh

SIX MICHIGAN TEAMS WILL COMPETE AT NCAA DIVISION I X-C NATIONALS IN
TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA
Defending cross country champion Boaz Cheboywo will be competing with his
Eastern Michigan University team this year. Eastern men qualified by
taking second at the Great Lakes Regional. Michigan women also qualified.
Teams receiving at-large qualifiers include men's teams from Central
Michigan, Michigan and Michigan State and the Michigan State's women.
Cheboywo can expect tough competition from Jorge Torres of Colorado, David
Kimani of Alabama and Kip Kangogo of Brigham Young. See Bob Ramsak's
