Crim Festival of Races Makes Top 20

Flint, MI- If you are one of the 120,000 members in the circulation of RRCA Footnotes Magazine, then you probably noticed the Crim Festival of Races listed in the calendar of the "20 Great Races Across the Nation." In a travel promotion to get people to visit "great races in great places," Footnotes asked over 500 clubs of the Road Runners Clubs of America to name their favorite race in the nation and the Crim Festival of Races made the cut. "I was so proud!" said Sherlynn Everly, Race Director. "We've always known that once someone runs or walks in the Crim, they'll want to come back. The event is always great because the community- volunteers, sponsors, public servants and neighbors on the courses- all stand behind it. This recognition verifies for me that the "Spirit of the Crim" really does stick with people!"
The Crim Festival of Races, a member of USATF and Running USA, is a nationally recognized event, which attracts some of the world's top athletes. The Crim is the largest multiple event race in Michigan, with running and walking races in 4 distances including the 10-Mile, 8K, 5K, and 1-Mile. The Teddy Bear Trot attracts over 1,000 children each year. The Crim Festival of Races annually runs on the fourth Saturday of August, starting and finishing in Downtown Flint. The date for the 2002 Crim is August 24.
The Road Runners Club of America is a national association of not-for-profit running clubs dedicated to promoting long distance running as a competitive sport and healthful exercise.
