Crim Takes its Place in National Running Organization

Flint, MI-Sherlynn Everly, Executive Director of the Crim Festival of Races in Flint, MI, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of RunningUSA during their annual meeting at Disney World. She has been the Crim Race Director for nearly three years.
"I am exceedingly honored by the support of my peers in electing me for this responsibility. Compared to other RunningUSA Board members, I am a newbie in this sport, having just begun running this past summer through the Crim Training Program," says Everly.
Other RunningUSA Board members include the directors of the New York City Marathon, Compaq Houston Marathon, Big Sur Marathon, Quad City Times Bix 7, and the City of Los Angeles Marathon. "Whenever I travel, I am always impressed by the recognition and respect the Crim receives on a national level. I am delighted to represent the Crim in its rightful place among this group of prestigious running events."
RunningUSA was formed in 1999 as a national industry council for road races and running related businesses, and is supported by the USA Track and Field association. Its purpose is to improve the status of road racing in the United States through promoting the sport, its athletes and events; providing one-stop media services; enhancing the running experience for runners at all levels; supporting the development of world class American distance runners; and providing resources for events, athletes, and sponsors.
Two particular goals of RunningUSA have been astoundingly successful in its short existence:
The RunningUSA Wire is a twice-weekly e-mail newsletter sent to over 700 media sources. It is widely used by major and smaller newspapers, running publications including Sports Illustrated, Runner's World and Running Times, numerous websites, radio and television.
RunningUSA's initiative to support a national athlete development program has brought impressive results: Two national records; a bronze medal at the World Cross Country 12K Championships, six USA championships with 12 national titles and the Women's USA Running Grand Prix Crown - to name just a few. The USA Fall Cross Country Championship Team title is currently held by Hanson's Running Shop Team from Rochester Hills, Michigan. Hanson's Team is one of four Team Running USA Training Centers operating successfully with the support and guidance of RunningUSA.
Ms. Everly states, "It is an exciting time to be involved with running and racing. Not only are our events experiencing healthy numbers of participation, but our American athletes are enjoying success in the sport not seen for the last twenty years."
