Notre Dame's Ryan Shay (Central Lake, MI) ran a 13:52.66 5,000 meter at the Meyo Invitational February 2nd, placing 2nd behind Michigan State Alumni Kyle Baker (13:51.62). Shay's time was a new Notre Dame school record and his time automatically qualifies him for the NCAA National meet March 9-10, 2001. Shay placed 10th at the 2000 United States Track & Field Olympic Trails.

Rockford's Dathan Ritzenhein continues to burn up the indoor track as he runs 8:47.3 for 3200 meters. Dathan accomplished this by running as an individual during a 4 x 800 meter relay in Mt. Pleasant on January 29th (info from Michigan Track & Cross Country Website).
