Younger Wolverines Gain Experience at EMU Open

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- There was no team scoring at the Eastern Michigan Open 
today (Saturday, Sept. 2), but the Michigan women's cross country team came 
away with good meet experience for its younger runners. Colleen Lange (Corunna
, Mich./Corunna HS) led the way for the Maize and Blue with a fifth-place 
finish (19:36). 
The Wolverines' less experienced runners competed in the event and battled 
the humidity in the early morning. Five other runners were not far behind 
Lange as Rachel Sturtz (Traverse City, Mich./Central HS), Nicole Johnson (Banc
roft, Mich./Corunna HS), Andrea Steinhoff (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS),
 Katie Easton (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron Northern HS) and Lynne Gratz (La
insgberg, Mich./Lansing Catholic Central HS) finished eighth through 12th, 
respectively. 
Michigan returns to competition next weekend (Sept. 9) at the Miami 
Invitational in Oxford, Ohio, at 10 a.m.
