Ann Arbor - JETS LANDING FOR MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL
Michigan International Meet Director John Goodridge has just put the
international finishing touches on the Sprint Events for Saturday evening's
First Annual Michigan International Invitational, a High Performance
Olympic Development Track Meet hosted by Ann Arbor based Athletics America.
Clement Chukwu, from Nigeria was the fifteenth fastest 400 meter runner
in the World in 1999 posting a 44.78 . He will most likely race the
200 but will possibly double in the 400 where he would face Fabian Rollins
of Barbados.
Bahamas Olympian Sylvanus Hepburn will contest the 100 and 200 meters
as will Chad Bullett, the American speedster from Akron who has just
narrowly missed qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials in both events.
Both have identical season bests in the 100 which adds to the excitement.
O'Brian Gibbons, the 4th ranked Canadian 200 Meter Dash man and eigth
ranked in the 200 Meters will contest the sprint double as well. The
field also highlights Billy Chenault representing the Ypsilanti-based
Athenian Athletes in the 200 meters and Liberian National Team Member
Kouty Mawenh in the 100.
The Michigan International begins at 7PM Plymouth
Canton-Salem Stadium at Plymouth-Canton HS in Canton, at the intersection
of Joy and Canton Center Roads.
Tickets are $5.00 at the Gate with children twelve and under admitted
free.
