Hawks Mid-Summer XC Open 5k Race

Overview of Race: Looking for a different type of race other than your traditional road race or trail run? The Hawks Mid-Summer XC Open 5k Race is a cross country meet for adults and kids of all ages. This race will be team scored and the team with the lowest score wins. Teams will consist of 5 to 7 runners. There will be three divisions to compete in MALE, FEMALE, and CO-ED. All teams will compete in the same race and the winners of each division will receive an award. The way the race will be scored as followed. The top five runners count for scoring and the 6th and 7th runners are displacers and play a critical part in the team score. Each runner receives a point based on their finish position. All points are added up based on the finish position of each of the top five runners and the team with the lowest score in each division will be crowned the winner of the Hawks Mid-Summer XC Open 5k Race. No frills, No age group awards, but an accurately measured course, a timed race with results.

Teams: There will be three race divisions (male, female and co-ed) all division will race at the same time. Each team will consist of a minimum of 5 runners and a maximum of 7 runners. For the co-ed division teams will need to consist of as close to 50% male runners and 50% female runners as possible. For example: 4 male runners and 3 female runners or 3 female runners and 2 male runners.

Course Description: The course is a single loop and generally flat course on the wood chipped and grass trails along the scenic Tittabawsse River. The course is well marked, and accurately measured making this a great race for someone looking to get into trail running or just looking for something different than the traditional road race.
All proceeds from the race goes to the Hawks Running Club supporting the youth running movement in the Saginaw Township Area.
