Irish Track and Field Set to Host Indoor Opener

Butler, DePaul, Loyola and Western Michigan visit the Loftus Center.

Jan. 14, 2009 NOTRE DAME, Ind. The Irish track and field squads will kickoff 2010 by hosting the Notre Dame Indoor Opener Friday evening at the Loftus Sports Center. The Indoor Opener is the second of five home meets for the Irish, and the first of 2010.

Joining the Irish will be Butler, DePaul, Loyola and the women¹s team from Western Michigan.

The long jump and weight throw start things off at 5:00 p.m., with the running events getting underway at 6:00.

The Irish have not competed since they hosted the Blue and Gold Meet on Dec.4. Notre Dame set 48 BIG EAST qualifying marks at their first meet of the season and will look to add more to the list on Friday.

Admission to the Notre Dame Indoor Opener is free. Complete results will be available at www.und.com following the meet.
