DAVILA SETS PERSONAL BEST

Desire Davila of Hansons-Brooks placed third in the Brutus Hamilton, 10,000 meter race late Friday night. The track race was part of a distance carnival, held in Berkeley, Cal.

Davila ran a personal best time of 32 minutes and 25 seconds for the 10,000 meter race, a mere five seconds from the World Champion ‘B Standard.’ Davila defeated two former NCAA champions, Lisa Koll of Iowa State and Amy Hastings of Adidas, formally from Arizona State.

The New York Road Runners helped to assemble the talented fields for Friday night’s distance carnival, which was held at California University’s Edwards Stadium.

In the men’s 10,000 meter race, Samuel Chelanga, of Liberty University, set a new collegiate record running a time of 27:28.48, breaking Galen Rupp’s old record of 27:33.58.
