HANSONS-BROOKS WIN TEAM TITLE AT BOSTON


Hansons-Brooks athletes led the team field at the Boston Marathon Monday morning. Hansons athletes led the way, in the field of more than 26,000 competitors, by finishing five runners in the top 20 to secure a team victory.

The Hansons team was led by Beijing Olympian, Brian Sell, who finished the hilly, marathon course in two hours 16 minutes and 31 seconds, for 14 place overall. Sell was closely followed by teammates, Patrick Rizzo and Luke Humphrey who placed 15th and 16th respectively. Sell, Rizzo and Humphrey were the second, third and fourth American finishers to cross the line.

Todd Snyder, Kyle O’Brien and Fred Joslyn rounded out the Hansons team finishing 18th, 19th and 35th respectively.

American, Ryan Hall, had a strong showing, finishing third overall. Hall was less than one minute behind Boston Champion Deriba Merga of Ethiopia. Merga won his first Boston Marathon in a time of 2 hours eight minutes and 42 seconds.

In the women’s race, the United States’, Kara Goucher finished third in a heartbreaker. With half of a mile left in the race, Goucher was with the leaders but was unable to hold on as the pack of three runners sprinted down the final straightaway.

Salina Kosgei of Kenyan won the race in a race to the tape with Dire Tune of Ethiopia. The two women were separated by only one second.
