Aquinas - Three Saints Earn Qualifiers at Gazelle Girl Half Marathon

A trio of Aquinas student-athletes from the women's track & field team competed at the Gazelle Girl half-marathon on Sunday (Apr. 22) in Grand Rapids, Mich. All three ran very well and finished in the top-11 spots, with two Saints earning automatic qualifiers to the NAIA Championships and another notching a provisional qualifier.
Tea Romanowski (SO/Hudson, Michigan) placed sixth overall in the half marathon in a time of 1:28.30, while Aly Schwartz (SO/Caledonia, Michigan) finished seventh in 1:29.42. Both runners earned automatic qualifying times for the Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 24-26. Leanne McWain (SR/Grand Rapids, Michigan) finished 11th in a time of 1:31.48, good for a provisional qualifying time.
There were 1,450 female participants in the half marathon race on Sunday.
The Aquinas track & field teams will compete at the Hillsdale Relays and Calvin Invitational next weekend (Apr. 27-28).
