Members of the Hillsdale College men's track team competed in different parts of the country over the weekend. Several ran at nearby Grand Valley State University as part of the Al Owens Classic. Others took a cross-country flight to California to run in the prestigious Mt. SAC event, with meets at Asuza Pacific and Long Beach State University.
Some of the top performers in California included Lane White, who ran the 400 in 49 seconds, and thrower Daniel Capek, who came in just under 59 meters in the hammer throw. Distance runner Nate Jones also ran in the California warmth, running the 1500 in 3:55.
Also in California, Joseph Humes finished the 1500 in 3:48.28.
Closer to home, Nathan Pando was one of the team's top runners at the Al Owens Classic, placing ninth overall in the 100 with a time of 11.22 seconds. Mark Miller notched a top-10 finish in the 5000 meter run, finishing in 15:23.07. Seth Overla had a good performance in the javelin throw, taking fourth place with a throw of 46.62 meters.
Hillsdale will be home for each of the next three weeks, starting with next weekend's 52nd Annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays.
