Albion Women - Track & Field athletes tune up for MIAA Championship

HILLSDALE, Mich. – Allison Butler, Emily Kinser and Tyra Thomas-Spratley finished in the top eight in the 400 meters as Albion College track & field athletes tuned up for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championships with a competition at Hillsdale College.



The MIAA Championships are set for next Saturday at Trine University.



Butler was second in the race, reaching the finish in 1:01.28, a school record time that was three hundredths of a second behind the winner. Kinser was sixth and Thomas-Spratley seventh.



Albion also did well in the 200 where Layla Wilks was third, Chalara was fourth, Kimberly Barber was sixth and Butler was eighth.



Britons finishing in the top eight of their respective events included Nia Thomas (sixth in the long jump and seventh in the triple jump), Kimberly Barber (sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump), Jessica Johnson (fourth in the shot put with a throw that was second-best all-time at Albion), and Ericka Coleman (seventh in the 60 meters with a time that was fourth-best all-time at Albion).
