Sara Hall (Redding, California) won the women’s USATF Marathon Championships at the California International Marathon in Sacramento Sunday, running 2:28:10 to earn USATF Athlete of the Week.
Hall, who was competing in her second marathon in a five-week period after finishing fifth in Frankfurt with a PR 2:27:21 on October 29, set the early pace and was never really challenged. She passed the halfway point in 1:13:38, on pace to set another lifetime best, and her lead was more than three minutes. At the finish, Hall had a 2:27 margin over the runner-up, and with her victory she ended up second in the 2017 USATF Running Circuit point standings. Full results of the CIM are here.
